This is our second hiking trip in 2012. Driving experience to Sugar Mountain, North Carolina is much better than our previous experience driving north to Poconos. We stayed in Highland in Sugar, a ski resort at the top of the mountain. We took the lift to the Sugar mountain, hiked on Grandfather Mountain, took an easy walking trip at Price Lake on Blue Ridge Mountain. The mountain air is so fresh and the area is so quite and so peaceful. We really enjoyed.
Grandfather Mountain is a state park near Linville, North Carolina. It is the highest peak (5,946 feet) of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The swinging bridge connects two of the mountain’s rocky peaks and it is the highest in America. The mountain is very rugged and the hikers need to use ropes and ladders to get to the top. We went to the Macrae peak(5,844 feet). Guanghui and his hiking buddy David reached the top. David came down and took his wife Sandy hiking back to the peak after we left. Grandfather Mountain is at his best in Spring when wild flowers are blooming, and in Fall when leaves starting change color.
